When Gibson first introduced the Les PaulTM Special in 1955, the aim was to create a more luxurious version of the Les Paul Junior. The novelty was the addition of two pickups instead of one, along with enhanced aesthetics featuring a mother of pearl inlay on the headstock and a bound fretboard. This model occupied a position between the elegant Les Paul Standard and the more accessible Les Paul Junior.
In 1958, a double cutaway design was introduced in the body, providing improved access to the entire length of the fretboard. The Les Paul Special gained popularity in 1960 when the position of the neck pickup was adjusted, enhancing the overall stability of the structure. Now, Epiphone proudly presents the Les Paul Special Double Cut, inspired by the iconic instruments of the 60s.
This guitar features a mahogany body and a mahogany neck with a Slim Taper profile, equipped with a bound rosewood fretboard that boasts 22 medium jumbo frets and position markers in the shape of dots made from mother of pearl. The 60s Kalamazoo-style headstock comes with Epiphone tuners and a GraphTech nut, ensuring tuning stability and a classic appearance. The Epiphone logo is crafted from mother of pearl.
